President Obama essentially said “pass this bill” eighteen times over the course of his address to Congress. Not “together we can find solutions”, but “pass this bill”. He basically said: here’s a plan that meets all your (stated) demands and will put Americans to work. YOUR MOVE, BOEHNER.
I’m sure if you watched on cable TV, somebody popped up at the end to explain how nothing means anything and really this is a sign that the administration is out of touch with the deficit, or something like that. And in a few weeks Congress will be debating a marked up, amended, hollowed out bill that bears only a passing resemblance to the President’s plan.
But for tonight, you can listen to the Obama you voted for, for a change.
