  • When you are confronted with ignorance, seems like you generally have two choices:

    • Fight ignorance with hate; make martyrs.
    • Fight ignorance with love; make converts.

    You aren’t guaranteed to make martyrs/converts, but if you’re the most effective you can be with your boycott/education then that’s the only thing you are going to accomplish.

    There have been plenty of cases of social conservatives who have changed their minds about “the gay lifestyle” because someone they know and love has come out to them.

    In fact, it’s the only thing that works. As far as I know, there have been zero documented cases of somebody coming around to your point of view because you shouted at them, or threatened to boycott their work, or wished them personal harm.
