I signed the contract to book these dates in February. At the time, the prospect of hosting a bi-weekly Saturday night show was exciting. But now it feels like at any given point in time there are eight shows going on simultaneously. I’m going to be racing to this show to perform in End of the World at UCB at midnight. I’m conflicted about promoting that show when I know people are unlikely to be at both, and I have financial interest in people paying to see Fat Penguin. (I’m interested in losing as little money as possible.) Every so often I find myself thinking, this isn’t fun any more.
