Nicest thing all week

I was on my way into the 23rd st 6 train stop tonight - it’s pouring down rain.  I am soaked.  I hear the train in the station and I get my card out - I’m gonna make it!  And I swipe and slam up against the turnstile but my crushed chest is another embarrassing casualty of the too fast swipe.  I was like, ahhh crap, because I heard that ding of the doors while I was reswiping it and I knew I was gonna be too late.  I ran towards it anyway. And this complete stranger ran towards the doors inside the car when he hadn’t been near the car doors at all - and he held the door open for me while it was closing.

Wet and happy to not wait for forever for a late night train, I instantly decided that dude wins for nicest thing all week.

And we live in New York and that was a stranger.

Awesome.

Does it matter that I was also there? I kind of think it does, in the dude’s favor.
